FAQ: Adventure Pass

What is the Adventure Pass?

In partnership with Blank Park Zoo, Science Center of Iowa, the Des Moines Children's Museum, the Iowa Arboretum,  the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden and Reiman Gardens, the Polk City Community Library provides free passes to area attractions by using a valid adult Polk City Community Library card and a valid photo ID. The Adventure Pass CANNOT be used for special ticketed events that serve as fundraisers for the venues (ex. Night Eyes, Reiman Gardens Winter Wonderscape, Noon Years Eve, etc.). 

Who can check out the Adventure Pass?

Any adult library patron residing in Polk City or rural Polk City may borrow a pass to enjoy an educational day of family fun.

How do I get the Adventure Pass?

As a program partner, the Library must abide by all partnership guidelines:

  • Valid cardholders 18 and older that are non-expired and in good standing (fines below $5.00) may check out and place holds on passes by using TixKeeper
  • Cardholder must present a valid photo ID and printed pass before admission into the organization is allowed
What are the guidelines for using the passes?
  • Passes can be reserved once every 365 days
  • Passes are good for regular admission of two adults (Ages 13+)  and two children (Ages 12 & under)
  • Passes are not good for special events such as Night Eyes, Zoo Brew, Noon Years Eve, etc.
  • Please cancel your reservation if you cannot use the pass at the reserved time. To cancel a reservation, call or email the library. RESERVATIONS MUST BE CANCELED BY 10:00 AM ON THE DATE OF THE RESERVATION. 984-6119 - email
  • Zoo Passes: One visit allowed every 365 days. Zoo Passes CANNOT be used for any other special member events
  • SCI Passes: One visit allowed every 365 days. SCI cannot be used for special member events
  • Botanical Garden Passes: One visit allowed every 365 days. Botanical Garden passes admit up to 2 adults and dependents living in the same household or up to 2 grandparents and their grandchildren under 18 years of age.
  • Des Moines Children's Museum: One visit allowed every 365 days.
  • Reiman Gardens: One visit allowed every 365 days
  • Iowa Arboretum: One visit allowed every 365. Not valid on special events.
