Library Employment

The Polk City Community Library is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic part-time Library Page. The ideal candidate is excited about providing outstanding customer service to library patrons. This position will be responsible for duties pertaining to the day-to-day operations of the Library and assisting patrons with regards to library services. Library Pages must be able to work weeknights 4:00 pm-7:00 pm and Saturday mornings and afternoons. Weekday morning hours are expected during the summer. The individual best suited for this position must have excellent communication and organizational skills; a competence in technology; knowledge of libraries and the Dewey Decimal System; strong attention to detail; the ability to listen carefully, take instructions, and learn procedures quickly. This candidate must have the ability to build and maintain relationships with co-workers and library patrons. 

Responsibilities include: working the circulation desk, aiding patrons in locating needed materials, shelving/reading/straightening shelves, inventory and basic cleaning and sanitation tasks. A full job description is located here and in a separate file. This position requires evening and weekend availability. 

Qualifications : 

Minimum age requirement is 15 years of age.

Basic computer skills

Reliable transportation

Ability to work 6-10 hours per week with a flexible schedule; additional hours expected during the summer.

Must sign a waiver for background check of child abuse directory and criminal records check

Starting wage is $10/hour.
