Recycling Curb-It

Contact City Hall to request a Curb-it Cart. Curb It! is the residential recycling program that equips each home with a green Curb It! cart to set at the curb bi-weekly on the same day as garbage collection. In Polk City that means Curb It! Carts are picked up every other Friday morning by Metro Waste Authority.  Learn more at mwatoday.com/waste-recycling

Compost IT! also available

In Polk City you can subscribe to the Compost It! program for curbside yard waste disposal. Yard waste like grass clippings, leaves, and garden vegetation are not allowed in your regular garbage, but that doesn’t mean it’s difficult to dispose of it in a safe, smart way! We offer a few different disposal options and the Compost It! season runs the first full week of April until the last week of November, plus two weeks after Christmas. During this time, residents in participating communities can dispose of yard and garden waste at the curb using bags, stickers, or carts. Learn about each of these options on Metro Waste Authority's website at Curbside Disposal webpage

City Recycle Center - 409 East Northside Drive
Open Monday - Sunday from 7AM - 5PM

  • Recyclables
The recyclables section is open to everyone and handles cardboard & mixed paper, plastic bottles, and tin cans. This area is funded by the Metro Waste Authority.
  • Yard Waste
Only Polk City residents (which are residents that live within Polk City’s Corporate City limits and have Polk City utility services) can use the yard waste side of the recycle center. Disposal of routine maintenance items such as grass clippings, leaves, tree trimmings and organic landscaping waste can all be done here. This area is provided and monitored by the City of Polk City and is funded by local taxes.
