Ice Rink

ICE RINK IS CLOSED FOR THE SEASON.

Grab your skates and head out to the free outdoor rink at Kiwanis Park (451 N. 3rd St.) during December, January, and February.  Fundraised and gifted by Polk City Friends of the Parks, this 60 x 30 feet rink is open to the public, 7am to 10pm, weather dependent.  This rink is BYOS (Bring Your Own Skates).  The colored flag system will be used to inform the public of skating conditions. 

  • A GREEN FLAG will indicate the rink is open and conditions are suitable for skating. 
  • RED FLAG will signify that the rink is closed as ice conditions need to improve.

All skaters are advised they are skating at their own risk.  The rink is not supervised.

Rink Rules

  • Ice skating, by its nature, is a hazardous activity, falls are common.  Rink users are strongly encourage to wear helmets and other protective gear.
  • Skate in control, accept responsibility for knowing the range of your ability while on skates.
  • Be considerate of others, maintain a proper lookout to avoid other skaters.
  • Beware of soft spots, rough edges, water puddles, or other hazards on the ice.
  • Please use caution entering and exiting the ice rink.
  • Kicking holes, chipping, or gouging the ice is prohibited.
  • Skaters and spectators must not sit on, lean over, or leave articles on the dasher boards.
  • No food, drink, or pets on the ice.
  • Do not skate while under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or other control impairing substances.
  • Do not skate if the rink has been damaged or ice has melted. This may ruin the rink.
