The Polk City brush drop-off is for POLK CITY RESIDENTS ONLY. Non-Resident drop-offs are not accepted. Private contractror drop-offs are not accepted. All license plates are being recorded to check for illegal NON Polk City Residents use of the brush drop-off. OUTSIDE CITY LIMIT POLK CITY ADDRESSES ARE NOT PERMITTED! An illegal dumping fine of $500 will be administered to anyone who dumps and is not a resident of Polk City.

Mulch is FREE to anyone interested in loading it. The Polk City Public Works Department works hard to maintain and care for the brush pile to prepare it for chipping. Public Works employees do not load mulch for the public.

*OPEN DUMPING PROHIBITED*
No person shall dump or deposit or permit the dumping or depositing of any solid waste on the surface of the ground or into a body or stream of water at any place other than a sanitary disposal project approved by the Director of the State Department of Natural Resources, unless a special permit to dump or deposit solid waste on land owned or leased by such person has been obtained from the Director of the State Department of Natural Resources. However, this section does not prohibit the use of dirt, stone, brick or similar inorganic material for fill, landscaping, excavation, or grading at places other than a sanitary disposal project. (Code of Iowa, Sec. 455B.307 and IAC, 567-100.2)
